Oval Mirror with Mother-of-Pearl Inlays
Description:
The precious Mirror with mother-of-pearl inlays within the lacquered and gilded frame with a crest and accents in volutes on a tortoiseshell background is the refined fusion of lacquer and mother-of-pearl from the city of Venice. Along the oval edge of the frame are spaced carved elements, sculpted and gilded, to embellish the curved band.
The work is attributable to Domenico Rossetti, an eclectic architect, engraver, woodcarver, and inlay artist.
