River landscape with an ancient tower and folk festival

This evocative, bright landscape vision, enlivened by a delightful country festival, is the work of Gaetano Zais (active in Venice in the second half of the 18th century). In this beautiful landscape, the particular colorism, rich in warm tones typical of the palette of his father Giuseppe Zais, while the motifs of the pre-alpine landscape and the leafy tree backdrops recall the compositional taste of Marco Ricci, the great master who, at the beginning of the eighteenth century, opened the way for the renewal of the landscape genre.
