Austria, Empire period. Very rare table clock with automata. Circa 1805-10. 
Description:
Vienna 1800-1810. A marvelous and rare mantel/table clock from the early Viennese Empire period with automata, in an intact condition, signed on the case by Sigmund Wald, Uhrmacher in Wien. The case is made of mahogany wood with intact bronze applications in a refined Empire style. The dial is made of enamel and chiseled brass. The mechanism repeats hours and half-hours. On the hour, the figure (a blacksmith) moves his hammer and strikes the anvil (see video at the bottom of the page to appreciate the sound and automatism). In working order and serviced. Dimensions: 25 cm wide, 44 cm high, and 12.5 cm deep.
