Louis XVI chest of drawers in kingwood, Turin, late 18th century
Description:
Elegant Piedmontese commode from the Louis XVI period, veneered in kingwood and finely inlaid with green maple wood. The strictly geometric structure is marked by a refined Greek key motif at the corners of the drawers and fluted, truncated-conical legs embellished with original gilded bronzes. The white marble top underscores the compositional sobriety, while the corner knot inlay and the woods used recall the finest Turin cabinet-making workshops active between the late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries. An example of high-quality commission, sober yet refined, consistent with the cultured environment of Sabaudian aristocratic residences. Width 128 cm. Depth 60 cm. Height 97 cm. Each item from our Gallery is sold with a certificate of authenticity issued by an expert from the Court and the Chamber of Commerce Industry Crafts and Agriculture of Genoa.
