Refined and unique "Biccherna Tablet", the name by which the Municipal Chamber was known in Siena, characterized by lean tempera painting and gold leaf on a wooden tablet, and framed by a contemporary finely carved and gilded wooden frame. This is a work that replicates the well-known "Biccherna Tablet", depicting the good government of Siena, and created by Ambrogio Lorenzetti around 1344. In the upper center, an old man is depicted, symbolizing the commune of Siena, adorned with attributes of power such as a scepter and a shield with eagles. At his feet is the She-Wolf, also a symbol of power, along with little Sieno and Ascanio, sons of Remus and mythical founders of Siena. The tablet was used as a cover for the commune's accounting records, to which the coats of arms and the inscription below, relating to the families of the Gabella executors, or those responsible for the tax revenues of the Republic of Siena, also refer. today it is preserved at the State Archives of Siena. This tablet, whose original is preserved at the State Archives of Siena, is a copy made by the renowned Sienese forger Icilio Federico Joni (1866-1946), famous for his ability to counterfeit ancient paintings, and dating to around the late 19th century. It is a work of great taste and refinement, capable of giving a touch of class and antiquity to any environment. Sienese manufacture from the late 19th century. Dimensions: H x W x D 61 x 46.5 x 3cm
