A small and refined devotional image from the Italian school of the 17th century, depicting the Madonna with the Child and Saint John the Baptist. The composition, intimate and delicate, revolves around the affectionate dialogue between the sacred figures, rendered with particular sweetness in their faces and gestures. The presence of Saint John the Baptist, alongside the Madonna and Child, lends the scene an intimate character of intense domestic devotion.
The work is executed in oil on glass and is presented in a gilded and carved wooden frame, well-suited to the taste of the image. On the reverse, an old handwritten label bearing the subject and a traditional attribution is preserved, to be understood as a historical collector's indication.
