Original edition. Nine quarto volumes, with thousands of pages of text and 720 plates out of text, in original coloring. Beautiful contemporary binding in brown half-morocco, smooth spines decorated with triple gilt and blind fillets, marbled paper boards. Important popular science work, perfectly complete with all engraved plates. Under Guérin's direction, the greatest scientists of the time participated, including the celebrated d'Orbigny.
