Description
Charles II sterling silver tankard, WS maker, London, 1676?
Slightly tapered, the body fully embossed and chased with floral and fruit motifs such as grapes and pears. The flat lid, decorated with motifs that echo the body of the tankard, is hinged and features a double dolphin clasp. The voluted handle is partially decorated and pierced. A coat of arms is engraved on the front of the tankard body.
Sterling silver marked with 4 hallmarks:
Maker's mark: WS unidentified
Lion passant: league mark. Sterling 925‰ guarantee control
Leopard head with crown: city of London
Date letter: 1676?

Slight signs of age and superficial scratches. The four hallmarks are on the body of the tankard, while the maker's mark is on the lid.
