Pocket watch from the prestigious Rolex manufacture.
Rolex was founded in London in 1905.
During this period, the manufacture did not yet produce watches entirely but assembled high-quality Swiss components in British cases.
To circumvent the heavy taxes on the import of precious metals required to finance the war effort of World War I, Rolex shipped bare movements from Switzerland, which were then cased directly in England by the Dennison Watch Case Company.
Often, the dials also did not bear the Rolex inscription but remained blank or carried the retailer's name.
The movement, decorated with "perlage" (circular graining), bears the inscription "Rolex Lever Swiss Made" and has a 17-jewel lever escapement with 3 adjustments.
Excellent condition, working.
Sterling silver 925 case, "Special" model from the "Dennison Watch Case" company, hallmarked and dating back to 1927.
A dedication for the retirement of a sergeant from the Eastbourne police in 1934 is engraved on the cuvette.
Dimensions: 49mm
