Oil on canvas. Particularly striking is this Madonna holding her deeply sleeping Child resting on a pillow. Mary looks at the viewer, almost displaying her Son, with a serious expression, understanding of His destiny, of which the little one seems completely unaware, still simply a child, not the Son of God. Also noteworthy are the physiognomic features of the two figures. In particular, Mary's rounded, chubby face, her snub nose, her round eyes, and her not slender physical structure are far removed from more traditional representations of the Madonna. At the top left, there are some letters of a partially cut-off inscription. The painting has been restored and relined in the past. It is presented in a period-style frame.
