Small Venetian walnut-veneered chest of drawers – Late 19th century

Elegant small Venetian chest of drawers from the Vicenza area, dating to the late nineteenth century, belonging to the type traditionally known as “Recoarese”, a term derived from Recoaro Terme, a famous Venetian spa town highly renowned in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. This furniture was often made to furnish hotels and residences in the Recoaro spa area, distinguished by sober, practical, and elegant lines, easily fitting into both classic and contemporary environments even today.The piece of furniture has a slender structure supported by curved legs in late nineteenth-century taste. The front is divided into four drawers, two smaller upper ones and two larger lower ones, all embellished with pleasant walnut veneering arranged in mirror-like grain patterns.Entirely veneered in walnut, it retains a beautiful warm and luminous patina. The interiors of the drawers are finished with antique decorative paper.The furniture was restored a few years ago and is in good general condition. There are normal signs of age and use, particularly some slight wear and small water rings on the top, likely due to the placement of vases or decorative objects over time.
