Pair of wooden sculptures depicting allegorical figures holding cornucopias. Italy, 17th century.
Description:
Pair of putti dressed in antique style with wide, flowing robes finely worked with gold leaf and gold-finished lacquers. These allegorical figures were likely conceived for domestic furnishings and differ from the typical religious types of such objects depicting winged angels.
The condition is excellent, especially for the lacquers and gold.
It is probable that these objects were executed in the Papal States or in central-southern Italy during the second half of the 17th century.
The height of the objects is 61 cm.
We are attaching a certificate of authenticity to the sale.
