Refined set of four antique armchairs made of precious solid mahogany, dating back to the first half of the 19th century (height of the Restoration/Charles X period).
The seats are distinguished by the balance between the solidity of the structure and the elegance of the hand-carved decorations, typical of monumental neoclassical taste.
Main Features:
Structure and Carving: The slightly enveloping "boat-shaped" backrest is surmounted by a richly carved crest with a central rosette motif and symmetrical side volutes. The armrests are masterfully finished with an acanthus leaf decoration that descends with a sinuous line towards the uprights.
Ornamental Details: The front uprights feature an elegant stylized floral motif carving (palmette), which adds dynamism to the armchair's architectural structure. The legs are saber-shaped, ensuring stability and stylistic coherence.
Upholstery: The set is currently upholstered in precious green brocade velvet, with cream-colored decorations that recall imperial-inspired garland and palmette motifs. The seat is finished with a border of brass studs (bullette), perfectly preserved.
Condition: The armchairs are in excellent structural condition. The wood shows the natural patina of time. The velvet is taut and shows no tears, ready to be placed in a high-representation setting.
