In the lower margin of the image is the title: Veduta di Palazzo Vecchio e del G.D. della Loggia, e della Piazza con la festa degli Omaggi nella solennità di S.Gio Battista protettore della Città. The print is taken from the volume "Scelta di XXIV vedute delle principali contrade, piazze, chiese e palazzi della città di Firenze" published in Florence in the summer of 1744 and dedicated to Grand Duchess Maria Theresa of Austria.
The views that make up the volume combine the 17th-century Florentine tradition with the study of contemporary Venetian models and the use of the camera obscura, which provides a precise and analytical vision of urban spaces.
