Oil on canvas. Central Italian school, 17th century. The image depicts the Virgin with the Child Jesus sitting on her lap, and both have crowned heads. The Child is shown in a blessing gesture towards the viewer, holding a flower in his other hand. The iconography of the Madonna and Child, both crowned, became widespread only from the 16th century onwards, although the theme of the enthroned Madonna was already common previously, as was her Crowning. The painting has undergone restoration and relining in the past. It is presented in a wooden frame from the 18th century.
