Two-light wall sconce in carved and gilded wood. Italy, 18th century.
42 x 30 x 60 cm.
The back plate, shaped like a half-moon, is bordered by rich carving of acanthus leaves and scrolls. In the center, a cartouche element acts as a connection between the two curved arms that support the candle holders. The lower part is enlivened by pierced leaf motifs. The carving reflects the characteristics of Italian Rococo taste from the 18th century. The wall sconce has been re-wired at a later date (system requires revision).
