Neoclassical frame lacquered wood, 18th century  Translated
Description:
Important Neoclassical "Cassa" frame with a Temple-shaped pediment Period: Late 18th century (18th century) Material: Carved and lacquered wood in cream and sand tones, with gilded profiles and rebate. Condition: Good, consistent with the period. Minor losses of lacquer and signs of wear give it a splendid antique patina. A refined frame in the full Neoclassical style, expressing the architectural elegance of the late eighteenth century. The structure features an important projecting pediment with continuous molding, reminiscent of the architrave of a classical temple. The main body is decorated with a continuous frieze of finely carved relief laurel leaves (or bacaccini), which run along the uprights and crossbars, joined at the corners by an impeccable geometric composition. The inner rebate, gilded with leaf, features a bead motif (fusarole and pearls) that creates a luminous chromatic contrast with the light lacquering of the outer body. Its monumental proportions and the rigor of its lines make it ideal for housing large format canvases, mirrors, or for use as a highly representative architectural element for decoration.
