Olinto bookshelf by Kazuhide Takahama for B&B
Description:
Olinto modular bookshelf designed by Kazuhide Takahama for B&B.
A wonderful bookshelf resulting from the fusion of Eastern design with Italian quality.
Refined and elegant, this modular bookshelf is capable of furnishing a room on its own with its striking personality.
Made in the 1960s in solid latte-colored lacquered wood.
Kazuhide Takahama was a great Japanese designer, a genius of Italian design, thanks to a chance encounter during the setup of the Japan pavilion at the Milan Triennale with Dino Gravina, with whom he collaborated throughout his life.
B&B was founded in 1966 in Novedrate under the name C&B by Cesare Cassina and Piero Ambrogio Busnelli, who in 1973 bought out Cassina's shares and transformed it into B&B.
The first production of the bookshelf was by Gavina company; after its closure, B&B purchased the production patents.
This piece of furniture was designed by the designer to be adaptable to one's needs; in fact, upon purchase, one could choose the quantity and types of modules. This specific one is composed of:
two modules with shelves only;
two modules with lacquered doors at the bottom and shelves for the full height.
The bookshelf is in excellent condition, showing some slight and obvious signs of age as shown in the photos.
Slight color variations due to sun exposure.
The name of the bookshelf is a dedication from Takahama to Father Olinto Marella, a charitable soul beatified in 2020.
