Refined pair of wall-mounted consoles in the Louis XVI style, characterized by an elegant architectural structure and rich sculptural decoration.
Structure and Support
Central Leg: The support consists of a single, imposing "monopod" leg with a wide upper volute. It is richly carved with an acanthus leaf motif that slides along the shaft and a fluted treatment in the central part.
Terminal: The leg ends with a cube element decorated with a raised rosette, resting on a bulbous foot with leaf carvings.
Sub-top Band: The band is semicircular (crescent-shaped) and features a continuous frieze of interlocking frets with central rosettes, framed above by a leaf border and below by a refined row of beading.
Materials and Finish
Gilding: The finish is in gold leaf.
Marble Top: The top is made of precious Fior di Pesco marble, characterized by its typical shades ranging from gray to pink to white and violet, with dynamic veining and clouding that make it unique. The edge of the marble is worked with a sloping "owl's beak" profile, echoing the curvature of the wooden structure.
Style and Placement
Period/Style: The style is Neoclassicism typical of the Louis XVI period, evident in the geometric rigor of the friezes (beads, rosettes) combined with the sinuosity of the acanthus leaves.
