This type of furniture belongs to the eclectic fashion
of the second half of the 19th century, when in Europe, revivals of historical styles (Renaissance, Baroque, Gothic, etc.) were sought after.
In particular, ebonists flourished in Milan and Rome,
capable of creating black wood furniture embellished with inlays
of ivory, mother-of-pearl, semi-precious stones, and metal inserts,
inspired by Italian Renaissance masterpieces.
Various information in our possession suggests the furniture is close to the production of Ferdinando Pogliani or Giovanni Battista Gatti.
