Late 19th century.
Duret was a historic French company active in Paris in the 19th century, specializing in the production of colors and materials for artists.
The label is particularly interesting because it documents the company's change of ownership.
The original company was Duret Ainé based in Paris.
Later, management passed to Duret et Fils & Faucher.
The text on the label highlights the use of non-toxic colors in tablets approved by the health authorities of the time, an important innovation in an era when pigments contained toxic substances like lead or arsenic.
It also mentions 22 gold, silver, and bronze medals, including awards won at universal expositions.
The box is made of rosewood with brass decorations.
