Eva offers the apple to Adam  Translated
Description:
" Eva offers the apple to Adam" Flemish Master XVII century Oil on canvas Antique gilded frame Canvas cm. 50 x 63 Frame cm. 61 x 72 Excellent condition This interesting 17th-century Flemish canvas depicts the most fascinating and controversial episode described in the "Genesis" of the Old Testament. Adam and Eve, contravening the Creator's order, eat the fruit of the Tree that leads to the knowledge of Good and Evil, a prerogative that belongs exclusively to God. The two Sinners will be expelled from Earthly Paradise, losing all the benefits of their status, including immortality. This disobedience will be considered the "Original Sin" and will lead all human beings to be born sinners. Only the sacrifice of the Son of God on the cross will save our souls. The work is characterized by an evident but composed eroticism. Under the tree of the forbidden fruit, Eva, naked and with her graces fully displayed, offers the apple with ostentatious malice to her companion. The serpent, which convinced the Woman to disobey God, watches with satisfaction among the branches. Below, half-hidden in the shadows, appears the horrible silhouette of Satan who, with half-human and half-animal features, witnesses the embraces of the two lovers. Adam seems mesmerized by his companion and allows himself to be seduced, accepting her offer, incurring God's wrath and terrible consequences. The nude bodies of the two protagonists stand out sharply against the landscape background; diaphanous and feminine that of Eva, very virile with accentuated male anatomy that of Adam.
