Oil on canvas. This is a copy with small variations of the famous painting by Giovanni Giani, currently housed at the Quirinale in Rome (purchased in 1906 by Queen Margherita). The work depicts a young woman in white in a moment of suspended anticipation, seated in a garden on a windowsill, amidst flowering rose bushes. The figure evokes delicate and melancholic atmospheres, serving as a symbol of waiting, purity, and youth. The work is an example of the Verist-Liberty style of the Piedmontese artist Giani. Our painting, large in size, re-proposes the strong decorative impact of the original work. It is presented in an early 20th-century frame.
