Pair of Winged Angels in Silvered and Gilded Wood – Early 18th Century.
Spectacular pair of finely carved wooden sculptures, depicting two angels in flight.
The works, attributable to the full Baroque period (17th - 18th century), are distinguished by their plastic dynamism and refined rendering of movement, typical of Italian sculptural tradition.
The figures are characterized by expressive and vigorous gestures: the faces have delicate but decisive features, framed by deeply carved curls. The loincloths and large spread wings are decorated with gold leaf, creating a beautiful luminous contrast.
