Venetian Charles X solid walnut bookcase, tambour doors, 19th century  Translated
Dimensions: : 230 cm,: 180 cm,: 62 cm
Description:
Important bookcase from the Venetian area, dating back to the Charles X period, in the first decades of the 19th century, made of solid walnut wood. The piece of furniture stands out for its elegant architectural design and refined vertical fluting that characterizes its fronts, a decorative motif of late Neoclassical taste, already popular in the Louis XVI period and reinterpreted here with greater sobriety and solidity typical of the subsequent period. The upper section consists of two opening glass doors, revealing internal shelves ideal for books or display items. The lower section, however, features an element of particular interest: the doors slide sideways as tambour doors that retract inside the furniture, a sought-after and functional technical solution, less common than classic hinged doors. Two linear drawers separate the two sections, maintaining balance and proportion in the overall piece. Dimensions: Width: 180 cm Depth: 62 cm (lower section), 56 cm (upper section) Height: 230 cm The furniture is in good condition, with a patina of age and signs of use consistent with its era.
