Elegant "Louis XVI" Style Center Table – Piacenza Area (18th Century)
General Description: Refined Louis XVI style center table, clearly of Emilian craftsmanship (Piacenza area), dating back to the late 18th century. The piece of furniture stands out for its "center" structure, finished with extreme care on all four sides, allowing it to be freely placed within a room.
Technical and Construction Details:
* Materials: Made of walnut wood with rosewood and boxwood inlays.
* Top: The inlaid top features a large central rosette with floral and geometric motifs. The rosette is enclosed in a double border of concentric circles, all inscribed within a perimeter "ribbon" frame with corners decorated with volute motifs.
* Drawers: The apron houses four drawers (one per side), equipped with period bronze knobs.
* Supports: Inverted truncated pyramid legs, deeply fluted (typical of the Louis XVI style), terminating in an elegant constricted joint and turned foot.
Condition: The furniture is in excellent general condition. The patina is warm and deep, a sign of proper preservation over time. There are slight and natural signs of use consistent with its age, which guarantee its authenticity. The piece has been restored with shellac polishing.
