Large female portrait in tempera on canvas by the artist Mario Bucci (1903-1970). The painting depicts a female figure rendered with an orientalist flair, both in the woman's features and in her attire, with a veil gathered behind her head, a wide red robe, and a fan of feathers held in her hand. The painting is signed on the bottom right front, while on the back there is a dedication, signature, and date. The painting is presented in a contemporary carved, lacquered, and gilded wooden frame. The painter Mario Bucci was born in Foggia in 1903 but lived primarily in Florence, developing his art as a self-taught artist. He held solo exhibitions in Florence, Arezzo, Rome, Milan, and Messina. He participated in all the most important Italian art exhibitions, including abroad, such as the Venice Biennales and the Roman Quadriennales. His works have been acquired by the Uffizi Gallery and the Gallery of Modern Art in Florence, as well as by other Italian museums, and are also found in the collections of well-known collectors. It is a painting of great character and curiosity, capable of elegantly decorating any environment.
