Refined composition depicting the Neapolitan Nativity scene. The sculptural group of the Holy Family is set within an architectural aedicule defined by two fluted columns with finely executed Corinthian capitals in gilded wood, whose shafts frame a textured wall of cork and stucco. The Virgin is depicted with a crimson tunic and a powder-blue mantle with fluid drapery, while Saint Joseph is wrapped in a voluminous ochre cloak. In the center, Baby Jesus rests in a manger, the perspectival focal point of the entire scene. All figures have glass eyes. 19th century.
