Description:
Circle of Joseph Danhauser. Vienna c. 1810-15. Admirable chair with "timeless" design in practically intact condition. This is a museum-quality piece for its "futuristic" and original shape, as well as its excellent state of preservation. In the thumbnail, a drawing by Joseph Danhauser (housed at the Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna) for a very similar chair model. It is veneered in mahogany feather with refined geometric and radial inlays in ebony. Polished with real shellac using the traditional "a tampone" technique over its original patina. Original upholstery (excluding the blue satin exterior, of course). H. 90.5 cm, seat height 46 cm, width 48 cm, depth 48 cm. Observe the last photo in this listing, which is a digitally rendered fantasy simulation imagining the original piece virtually within a high-end modern interior. NB: The other furnishings in the photo, excluding our original offered piece, are not ours/available but are digitally simulated. Virtually associated with them, the "modernity," luminosity, and astonishing abstraction of a work conceived over two centuries ago emerge. With a great touch of class and elegance to the whole. The high Viennese ancient cabinetmaking of the Neoclassical period (1770 - 1830), with its sober and minimalist elegance, and precious light woods, strongly links to the lines of contemporary modern furniture. A unique, original, and perfect piece as a focal point for high-level contemporary interiors! The early design of Viennese masters from the early Biedermeier period = clean lines, lightness, veneers with precious woods, great craftsmanship. Compact dimensions and compatibility with modern apartments. A feeling of everyday elegance and functionality. Perfect for contemporary minimalist interiors. A unique item for discreet and refined luxury. For these reasons, along with their rarity, intact original Viennese pieces from the period, prototypes of modernism, are destined over time for significant economic revaluation and also represent a perfect investment. In accordance with the provisions of the New Cultural Heritage Code, the selling company provides a detailed written photographic guarantee of originality and provenance of the works sold concurrently with the sale. The data used to describe the works and subsequently contained in the written guarantees are express determinations resulting from accurate and documented technical/historical/artistic investigations, including expert appraisals. Copying and duplication for commercial purposes and/or for describing other works for sale, even if considered in some way similar, is prohibited.
