Alpine Landscape – Anton Dembinski  Translated
Description:
Alpine Landscape – Anton Dembinski An oil on board painting of an alpine landscape by Anton Dembinski, created in the mid-20th century, depicting the mountain ranges surrounding the town of Reutte, Tyrol. Technical Information: Period: Mid-20th Century Origin: Austria Artist: Anton Dembinski Technique: Oil on board Artwork Dimensions: 60 x 80 cm Description: The painting depicts an alpine landscape with a snow-capped mountain range. A pyramidal peak dominates the center, flanked by other rocky reliefs that fan out towards the sides of the composition. The mountainsides are rendered with a thick impasto of paint, applied with a palette knife in oblique directions that follow the contours of the rock faces and snowdrifts. At the bottom, a band of alpine meadow introduces the foreground: the terrain is articulated with areas of shadow and light, with exposed rocks and a small rural building in the center, partially set into the slope. On the left and right of the painting, groups of conifers develop, framing the view towards the central massif. The foliage is defined by overlapping spatula strokes, in a range of greens varying from the darkest in the shaded areas to the lighter green of the parts hit by light. The sky occupies the upper part of the composition and is painted in a light blue, interrupted by irregular clouds rendered with short, pasty touches. The whole is constructed on a strong diagonal articulation: from the shadowed foreground, the gaze rises along the ridge to the central peak, the point of greatest visual concentration. A label on the back indicates the subject can be attributed to the Reutte area (Tyrol). Available with a custom-made 7 cm frame of antique fir wood from our restoration workshop.  Translated
