Medici Lion  Translated
Description:
Medici Lion Towards the end of the 16th century, the sculptor Flaminio Vacca was commissioned to create one of the two majestic lions that adorn the steps of the Loggia dei Lanzi in Florence. The lion on the right is of Roman origin, while the one on the left, clearly signed by Vacca, dates back to 1600. The present bronze lion, elegant and powerful, is inspired by Vacca's latter work. Mounted on a finely marbled and lacquered rectangular base, the lion shows some variations compared to the original model: in particular, the position of the tail and paws is different, making this sculpture an original interpretation rather than a simple copy. However, the work retains the classic spirit and expressive power of the Medici lion, a symbol of vigilance and power. 23 x 15 cm H 25 x 12 x 9.5 cm H  Translated
