Description:
Oil painting on cardboard representing a snowy mountain landscape at sunset. In the foreground, some snow-laden fir trees are visible on the right side of the composition; their bent branches highlight the weight of the snow cover and introduce a vertical line that balances the wide opening of the background landscape.
The central part of the painting is occupied by a series of chalets with sloping roofs, also covered with snow. The structures, gathered in a small cluster, appear to be immersed in a valley, with a faint trail of smoke indicating the inhabited nature of the place. The bright surfaces of the snow reflect the sunset light, which takes on orange, pink, and purplish hues.
The background features a succession of mountainous reliefs, rendered through soft washes and chromatic overlaps that gradually fade towards the horizon. The sky, wide and dominant, shows a diffused sunset, with brushstrokes suggesting a grazing glow beyond the mountain line.
The panel is enclosed in a wide, gilded band frame, decorated with a small, incised lozenge pattern. The artist's signature is present on the front, placed in the lower right corner.
