ARM277 - Pair of lacquered and carved consoles with marble, 18th century, Measures cm W 86 x H 94 x D 46
Description:
ARM277 - This pair of 18th-century consoles stands out for their slender elegance and the richness of their decorative apparatus. The structure, thin and well-proportioned, is supported by tall tapered legs that give visual lightness, while maintaining considerable solidity. The surface is lacquered in dark tones, a deep blue, on which the carved and gilded motifs stand out.
The front frieze is enlivened by volutes, scrolls, and small floral elements that develop with balance around a central motif, creating a harmonious play of solids and voids.
The legs, also decorated with gilded phytomorphic motifs, guide the eye downwards with very elegant ornamental continuity. The marble top, sober and bright, introduces a material contrast that further enhances the ensemble.
These are furnishings designed for reception rooms, where function meets aesthetic value.
18th century, from Genoa.
