Six solid walnut friar's chairs. Friuli, 17th century. 46 x 37 x h 106 cm. A group of six friar's chairs entirely made of solid walnut, attributable to Friulian artisanal production of the 17th century. The backrest, a rectangular panel framed by squared uprights, is connected to the seat by a carved crossbar with a sinuous and lobed profile. The same decorative solution is found in the front crossbars under the seat. The lower crossbar between the back legs is shaped with a double volute, a typical element of popular carpentry in the region. The seat is in solid wood with a slightly rounded front profile. A direct comparative group is preserved at the Carnic Museum of Popular Arts "Michele Gortani" in Tolmezzo (Udine).
