17th-century double-body walnut and burr walnut credenza, Marche-Papal States region. (238cm x 150cm)
Description:
Splendid double-body credenza in walnut and walnut burr from the second half of the 17th century, in perfect and original condition in all its parts. It is an antique sacristy cabinet, which retains its charm, still bearing on the edges of the drawers of the lower chest of drawers the instructions for tidily storing liturgical textile vestments.
Originating from: Papal States
The lower part is a chest of drawers with three drawers and a small one that drops down and serves as a writing desk (scarabattolo).
In the upper body, the two doors open to reveal a shelved cupboard.
Its mouldings are of particular value, on the sides, doors, drawers, pillars, and the beautiful cornice which gives the piece notable architectural solidity.
The double body measures 238 cm in height, including both parts, 150 cm in width, and 71 cm in depth.
We are including a certificate with the sale guaranteeing authenticity and age, along with photographic documentation of the cabinet.
The cabinet can be viewed at our gallery in Foligno (PG) located at P.zza Ettore Giacomini 42.
