Interesting pictorial work depicting a battle scene executed in oil on poplar wood panel and framed with a contemporary boxwood frame. The specialized battle painter shows himself to be quite capable of representing the scene in all its splendor and movement within the enclosed space of the round support. Dense and filamentous brushstrokes characterize the verve of this artist in treating the highlights and some details of the characters depicted in the impetus to defend their uncertain fate.
