Refined and rare game table, also usable as a console, Viennese Empire/early Biedermeier style, from the circle of Joseph Danhauser or possibly himself. Vienna, circa 1815. Lined with mirrored mahogany veneer, with elegant inlaid details in maple wood. Its "futuristically advanced" line and the use of precious head-cut mahogany, rarely used in Vienna except in the very early Biedermeier and Empire periods and by master cabinetmakers, place it in the stylistic sphere of the great Danhauser. The table opens like a book, rotating on itself to reveal the game surface covered in fine leather. The piece is of solid wood construction with a museum-standard French polish finish. It bears a patina and signs of age consistent with its antiquity. Measurements: 83 cm high, top width 89 cm, depth 46.5 cm, open depth 93 cm. Its sober, original, and elegant lines transcend time. It is also perfectly suited for high-end modern interiors, creating an ensemble of refined and prestigious elegance.
