Romantic painter (second half of the 19th century) - Portrait of a lady.
45.5 x 31 cm (unframed) — 74 x 60 cm (framed).
Oil on canvas, in a carved wooden frame.
Full-length portrait of a seated lady, depicted in a blue dress with a white lace collar and cuffs, a red belt, and a pearl-decorated headdress. The composed pose and direct gaze suggest an influence from the academic portraiture of the Northern European school, with a vibrant chromatic rendering typical of the Romantic taste of the second half of the 19th century. It bears a provenance plaque on the reverse.
