Rare Viennese First Empire serpentine chest of drawers (semainier) front in museum-quality conditions of practical integrity. Of the rare Viennese Empire style, it is a work by 1800-1810 approx. Finely veneered in precious mahogany feather with horizontally oriented grain, as is typical of the high Viennese cabinetmaking of the Classicism period. Elegant gilded leaf-shaped moldings with original gilding decorate the upper part, also a stylistic element typical of the Empire period and in particular of Viennese cabinetmaking of the period. Serpentine front shaped in a "bombé" style. With practical doors in the lower part alternating with the classic drawers in the upper part. Internal and external hardware, also original, with delicate Empire-style motifs of palmettes, acanthus leaves, and vases. Original locks all working. Consolidated and with a shellac finish applied with a pad using museum-standard techniques on intact original patina. Dimensions: height 143 cm, max. depth 51 cm, max. width 79 cm, body 75 cm.
