A Pair of Antique Italian Genoese Empire Chandeliers 1780s, a rare couple of 18th century Italian clear and coloured crystal and carved, giltwood Eight-light Chandeliers in good conditions, rewired and restored, typical Louis XVI chandelier of from Liguria region. This is the most elegant, timeless shape and style of Italian chandeliers, you can see the same Genoese chandeliers into Genoa’s Palazzo Ducale, Ducal Palace or Doge’s Palace.
This pair of 18th century Italian eight-light chandeliers is decorated with polychrome crystal drops and pendants in the upper part only. We find red, blue, green, as well as amber and pink authentic and original crystal drops. The eight curved arms are hand-made of wrought iron, the central stem is sculpted and gilded, with naturalistic motifs and stylised leaves, all decorated with strings of beads and ground clear crystal pendants.
The central giltwood stem, composed of several elements, is decorated with hand riveted iron elements, draped with a multitude of festoons of clear crystals, with some coloured crystals, surmounted by crystal flowers with a brass upper corolla, decorated with a few colored and clear crystals and original gilded and repoussé brass elements and clear crystal flowers, original details that, together with the splendid fine gold gilding, emphasise the taste and timeless elegance of these salon chandeliers, dating from the end of the 18th century.
The eight arms are made of curved iron, terminating in iron bobeiges, originalli born for candle lighting and now working with eight E14 light bulbs.
They come from a private villa in Emilia region, Northern Italy and are in good condition, ready to hang.
