Louis XVI walnut, maple and rosewood dressing table - Lombardy, 18th century
Description:
Dimensions: cm 89 x cm 43 x cm 79 height. Materials: walnut, maple and rosewood. Elegant dressing table finely veneered in walnut and embellished with refined inlays in maple and rosewood. The piece of furniture has a top decorated with a central inlaid medallion with geometric motifs, framed by contrasting threads that enhance its chromatic preciousness. The structure is characterized by a sober and rigorous line, typical of the neoclassical taste. The front is moved by side drawers and a central compartment, supported by four slender truncated pyramid legs, a distinctive element of late eighteenth-century cabinet making. The work can be fully attributed to the Louis XVI style, with a decorative sobriety that favors linearity and the combination of precious wood species. The manufacture is from the Lombardy area, famous for the quality of inlays and constructive solidity. The object dates back to the late eighteenth century (full eighteenth century), a period of maximum expression of Italian neoclassical furniture. The furniture is in excellent condition, having undergone a careful restoration that has preserved the original patina and structural integrity.
