Pair of finely engraved bronze vases. Venetian-Saracen workshop of the 16th century.
Description:
Rare and important bronze vases with two handles, finely crafted and engraved with elegant and precious motifs of plant and floral volutes executed on their entire surface. The handles are of great value, stemming from a mask of exquisite sixteenth-century taste with finely chiseled female caryatids. Works of this type were produced in Venice or in the territories of the Serenissima by oriental masters active in these bronze casting workshops, a real forge of sculptors, engravers and talented goldsmiths from oriental territories, driven by the mercantile force of the Venetian Republic. The dating of these artifacts can be estimated during the course of the 16th century. Maximum height 28cm, measurement of the maximum width of the handles 15cm.
