Renaissance casket Tuscany, 16th century Walnut, ivory inlay Measurements cm. L.46 x D.35 x H. 22 Excellent condition A magnificent and rare walnut casket dating back to the late 16th century. It displays the most elegant stylistic characteristics of the Italian Renaissance. The severe lines, emphasized by the 4 claw feet supporting it, are refined by an extremely delicate scrollwork decoration in ivory that extends across its entire surface, within richly framed panels. The proportions of this precious piece of furniture are splendid, suitable for its function as a vanity case, where precious objects and letters were kept in internal compartments. The state of preservation is excellent considering its age, with no missing or replaced parts, either externally or internally. The original 16th-century lock is still perfectly functional. The patina of age is intact.
