The artwork shown is an oil painting on canvas depicting the childhood of Zeus or Jupiter attributed to the Flemish painter Jacob Jordaens dating back to the early 1600s. The painting illustrates an episode from Greek mythology set on the island of Crete (according to the myth). To hide the newborn Zeus from his father Cronus, who intended to devour him, the child was entrusted to the care of the goat Amalthea and other mythological figures.
