Omero Solaro (1909–1977) – Rural landscape of the Po Valley with haystacks
Description:
Interesting oil painting on hardboard signed in the lower left by the Lombard painter Omero Solaro, an artist trained at the Brera Academy and active between Lombardy, Piedmont and the Veneto area in the post-war period.
The work presents a vast landscape of the Po Valley with haystacks, figures and a farm cart along a country path. The airy and well-balanced composition is dominated by a diffuse sky and delicate atmospheric light, rendered through a palette in gray-green tones typical of tonal painting of northern Italy.
The quality of the perspective construction and the sensitivity in the light rendering make the work representative of the artist's mature landscape production.
