Napoleon III Secretaire in Rosewood and Palisander with Thuya Root Interior  Translated
Description:
Dimensions: cm 66 width x cm 33 depth x cm 127 height. Materials: rosewood, palisander, thuja root and gilded bronzes. Elegant French secretaire from the Napoleon III period, characterized by refined cabinetmaking veneered in rosewood and palisander. The piece of furniture features a slender structure, embellished with finely chiseled gilded bronze applications that decorate the uprights and the upper fretwork. The front flap opens revealing a prestigious interior cabinet entirely covered in thuja root, equipped with small drawers and open compartments, with a writing surface enriched by a fabric insert. The lower part is marked by drawers that reflect the geometric pattern of the external veneer. The style fully reflects the eclectic taste of the Second French Empire, combining the preciousness of exotic woods with the sumptuousness of metallic ornaments. The choice of thuja root for the interiors denotes a construction care of high quality, typical of Parisian manufactures of the period. The object is of French manufacture and dates back to the second half of the 19th century (19th century). It is presented in a good state of general conservation, with the original patina that enhances its historical and material value.  Translated
