Elegant Napoleon III period writing desk, finely veneered in rosewood. The piece of furniture stands out for the richness of its decorations and the cabinet-making quality of the French manufacture.
The top has a refined herringbone pattern, enriched in the center by an important floral inlay in precious polychrome woods. The perimeter is delimited by a border with reserves with foliate scroll and raceme motifs, enclosed by a brass or gilded bronze profile that underlines its formal elegance.
The under-top band houses a central drawer, also entirely inlaid with motifs consistent with the upper top. The structure rests on turned and fluted legs, connected by a shaped crossbar with a central decorative element, typical of the eclectic taste of the period.
The Napoleon III style (Second Empire) is manifested in the skillful recovery of classic forms reinterpreted with a taste for lavish decorativism and the use of exotic wood species.
The object is of French manufacture, dating back to the second half of the 19th century (circa 1860-1870).
The dimensions are 120 cm wide, 72 cm deep and 73 cm high.
The state of preservation is excellent, the furniture maintains its original shine and the integrity of the inlays.
