Painting Madonna with Child and Saint Joseph
Description:
Oil on canvas. Emilian school of the 17th century. Traditional representation of the Holy Family, in the foreground in half-bust, with the baby Jesus who, while suckling milk from his mother's breast, turns his gaze back towards the spectator, indicating how he is already projected towards his future; Mary and Joseph look tenderly at the Child, the putative father in the background and in the shadows, so as not to detract from the centrality of the other two figures. Previously subjected to restoration and re-lining, the painting is in good condition and is presented in a gilded frame from the late 19th century.
