Umberto Levi – Evening at Cava Zuccherina (Eraclea Jesolo) Suggestive oil on canvas painting depicting a Venetian lagoon view at sunset, by the painter Umberto Levi, signed lower left and datable to the second half of the twentieth century. The subject, identifiable with the ancient town of Cava Zuccherina (now Eraclea, Jesolo area), returns a suspended and silent atmosphere, typical of the lagoon views dear to the Venetian pictorial tradition. The composition is dominated by a poetic balance between riverside architectures, moored boats and water reflections, rendered with a soft and luminous palette, played on warm and dusty tones. The painting, material but controlled, highlights a refined luministic sensibility, with particular attention to the reflections of the water and the glazes of the evening sky, elements that give the work an intimate and contemplative character.
