Rare painted chest from the 18th century
Description:
Rare painted chest from the 18th century, likely around the mid-century or perhaps even earlier, in intact wooden condition and with original paint, from Lower Austria, cm. 125 x 66 deep and 76 high. Refined panel motifs in Baroque style with elegant vines and Rococo curls. With a warm antique patina and refined motifs painted in vibrant colors. The top is original. The paint on the top/seat is worn, as is understandable, as it has been used as a seat for centuries. The piece is in intact wooden condition. Hinges, escutcheon and original lock are working. Key is present. Excellent for inclusion in a whimsical, modern and refined context. The piece is in intact wooden condition with slight and pleasant shellac satin polishing for protective purposes, signs of age and wear consistent with its antiquity. A fascinating and lively antique piece perfect also for inclusion in a modern context for an original and classy combination.
